Brú na Bhfiann, Homeless Initiative

Brú Na Bhfiann hostel

This is our largest homeless initiative. Situated in Smithfield Dublin 7 it is a six story building opened by President Mary McAleese in 2005. Brú na Bhfiann can accommodate 30 residents, all former members of the Defence Forces.

It is our hope to offer accommodation to those in need at a particular time in their life. Our aim is to give a resident a home with the intention for them to move on when their life has become more settled. Residents are here for many reasons including marital breakdown, financial difficulties and many other social reasons which lead to someone needing to stay in a homeless initiative.

Our homeless initiative is funded primarily by the Homeless Section of Dublin City Council, rents received from residents which may be
supplemented by social welfare rent allowances and monies made from our overnight accommodation.

Our overnight accommodation is open to members of the Defence Forces who need to stay in Dublin
